Board Member

Annie Millar joined Ceiba in May, 2015. She brings a deep commitment to students who are better served in a smaller, more personalized educational setting, to parent choice and to English Learners. She believes that the relentless practice of the Ceiba values of ‘creativity, effort, initiative, benevolence and assertiveness’ by students and staff alike will result in better outcomes for Watsonville and its surrounding communities.
In the role of Executive Director, she is dedicated to bringing together all of Ceiba’s stakeholders (staff, students, parents, and community) to fulfill Ceiba’s mission to prepare students to succeed in college.
Michael G. Jones joined the Ceiba Board of Directors in July, 2018. He recently retired after serving as Principal of Alianza Charter School for many years. Michael, along with his colleague Judy Stobbe, led the conversion of Alianza from a magnet school to a charter school in order to preserve the unique Two Way Bilingual Immersion Program that serves as the core of the school’s instructional program. He is committed to supporting efforts to provide excellent educational opportunities for the families of the Pájaro Valley.

Michael received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz. He received his Master of Arts in Educational Administration at the University of San Francisco. He is a member of the Watsonville Rotary and also serves on the Save Our Shores Board of Directors.

Olivia Madrigal has served the community as a professional and as a volunteer for more than thirty years. She has worked for several public agencies throughout the region and currently works in Emergency Communications in Monterey County. She has a deep background in the areas of human resources, policy development and implementation, and program management.

She is a member of the Santa Cruz County Civil Service Commission. She has also served as a board member for the Women’s Crisis Support and Girl Scouts of Monterey Bay organizations.

Her commitment to Ceiba is personal. Being the first generation of her family to attend college, she understands the challenges that families face. She is committed to Ceiba being a school that challenges students to reach their full potential in order to best prepare them for their future.

Mary Navas is currently the Director of Business Services at Scotts Valley Unified School District. Prior to joining Scotts Valley, Mary worked at Navigator Schools in Gilroy and Pacific Collegiate School in Santa Cruz as the Director of Business and Operations. Mary has over ten years of experience in the charter school finance industry and over twenty years of board experience.
Mary currently serves as chair of the board for Mountain Elementary School in the Soquel Hills.
Yesenia Medina Parra works full time for the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission as the Human Resource/Risk Management Director. She has a passion for education and believes every student should have the opportunity to learn in a safe educational environment. Ms. Parra also believes every student can and should be a high achiever and should graduate prepared for college.

She served on the Linscott Site Management Team as a Parent Representative and as President from 2011-2016. She also served as the President of the Natividad Elementary School PTA for ten years, then as a member-at-large for another two years. She is a Rotarian and served as President of Freedom Rotary 2015-2016.

Ms. Parra has two daughters, one a graduate from UC Santa Barbara, and the other, a student at Linscott Charter School. She is dedicated to the mission of Ceiba and considers it a privilege and an honor to represent the parents and the children of Ceiba as the current Board Chair.
Meredith Wall is a graduate of Northeastern University. She began her career in public accounting, gaining knowledge and experience through tax and audit engagements for public and private clients. She has worked for both mid- and large-size firms, including the Big 4.

Seven years ago, Ms. Wall transitioned into the farming industry. She has worked as a corporate tax manager with Driscoll’s largest farming group, Reiter Affiliated Companies. Working for Driscoll’s, she has served as a Senior Tax Analyst working on tax and accounting projects on a global scale. In addition, she serves on Driscoll’s Philanthropy Governance team and participates in several fundraising teams that benefit local and national non-profits.
